I know a lot of people aren't into the classic horror film remakes, but I think this trailer for the new Last House on the Left is uber-weird and totally solid. Count me in.

I hate to admit it, but you're right (I don't mean hating to admit that YOU'RE right, but that you're right about LHOTL... aw, you know what I'm saying...).
I saw this trailer last week in front of The Unborn and rolled my eyes as soon as I knew what it was. But it is a well done trailer. And, um, the "Sweet Child O' Mine" cover actually kinda works.
HOWEVER... from the trailer, it seems that they've totally screwed with the plot of the original! Not that I blame them since the original is an unreleasable film for a mass market.
Glad to see someone agrees! The song really freaks me out. And while its different than the original (a pastice! not a remake!), I think that is probably the smarter thing to do, as making the same thing in a different time never works out very well.

I'm going to remain pessimistic about the film, as I also hate the horror remake trend.
As for the trailer itself, does anyone else object to how much narrative it gives away. I know that with a remake of a remake (or a pastiche of a pastiche) the audience probably has a pretty good idea of what happens, but still.
I also didn't care for "Sweet Child O' Mine" being used, but that might just be because I've heard too many covers of that lately.

In terms of trailers, I think Shoaf is right in that this gives away too much; like a lot of trailers, it just goes on too long. Cut out that whole middle section, or maybe start with the dad walking in on the girls and the boy. The only part I'm really sold on is the end.
I'm fine with a remake (though I'd prefer a rerelease - that film will still shock today), but from the trailer I have a feeling I'll be sitting there muttering to myself, "Man, they did this all wrong, they should've done it *this* way." Could be wrong, but that's the feeling I get from the trailer.
As for "Sweet Child"... meh. Indifferent.

I have to say I am also excited about this movie. In that way that I always get excited about horror movies when I see the trailer until I remember that I hate all horror movies, almost without fail.
I'm a huge fan of the original. I have pretty much every version and the book on the making of it is one of my favorites.
As far as the remake goes, I will absolutely see it although I'm not sure if they will be able to capture the ferocious energy of the original. Still, I'm curious and if it comes out even half as good as Aja's remake of Hills did then I am sold.
I really love horror movies, not because they are necessarily good (because most suck) but they are just a guilty pleasure of mine. And I really loved the original LHOTL, and I'm generally okay with horror remakes, but this one looks terrible. I'm going to agree with Shoaf and say they definitely revealed too much in the trailer. But the trailer itself just made it seem like all of the other hollywood-ized, lets throw in a hot cast, pg13 horror movie trash.
I know the film has been given a R rating, but it still just comes off as a when a stranger calls, the grudge, prom night remake movie.
As for the Sweet Child O Mine, I actually really liked it. Did give it a creepier feel and I feel like it fits the movie.
I saw the original and I have the scars to prove it. I cannot see it again. Ever. Even with a nice "sweet child o mine" version in the soundtrack. No way.
It may be the most disturbing film I have ever seen.
