"Ashes of Time Redux" Trailer

Here is a link to the premiere trailer of the highly anticipated Redux of Wong Kar Wai's Ashes of Time. I've heard a lot about this since its premiere at Cannes and can't wait to see this for the first time. The last Redux I remember seeing was of Apocalypse Now, which I was not a fan of (the redux, that is...the original is brilliant.) It may help that I'm not familiar with the original Ashes of Time (yet), but I think this looks really outstanding.

Wow. Watching the two trailers (Redux and original) back-to-back is quite a juxtaposition. The Redux does look quite decent.

I cannot wait to see the redux -- regardless of the flack it will no doubt get.

That old trailer is horrible.

I'm not sure how I feel about Wong. I've always felt kind of ambivalent about his films. That being said, I've only seen a few (IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE, FALLEN ANGELS). However, I'm not sure that this will be the one to win me over.

I want to honor In the Mood for Love with a top ten position in some list somewhere in my brain. I can't specify which list it is on, but it's there.

I fucking love that movie. As such, I have always been excited by other Wong Kar Wai movies, but usually disappointed.

I've got my fingers crossed.

Whatever your feelings on WKW are (personally, I think he seriously dropped the ball after his masterpiece, In the Mood for Love), please go into Ashes of Time with an open mind. I saw this one many moons ago, and it is what really made me fall in love with Wong's films. It's absolutely brilliant, and I cannot wait for the redux.

I really love WKW, so I am really looking forward to this. He seems to have hit a lull as of late, but his late 80s to mid 90s work is brilliant as far as I'm concerned. DAYS OF BEING WILD, CHUNGKING EXPRESS, FALLEN ANGELS, and IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE are all masterpieces in my mind. I never expect a masterpiece when I go into a movie, but I've got pretty high expectations going into this. Color me excited!

Nice. Seen the original, loved it, can't wait to see the redux version too.
