Weird...

I don't know if anyone else out there watched the Emmys tonight. I don't really watch much TV, other than Mad Men and some of Bravo's reality shows, but I like watching awards shows to feel like I am up with what is going on. This, however, falls into a whole different category. Josh Groban sings classic TV theme songs. I thought I would share it, in case you missed it. Maybe I'm just being cynical in regards to Groban's status with the Oprah crowd (YouTube the video of his surprise appearance on Oprah if you haven't seen it...HYSTERICAL). Still, am I the only one who finds this utterly bizarre?

I was giggling uncomfortably all the way through this.

JOSH GROBAAAAAAN! (flails arms about) JOSH GROBAAAAAAN!!!

1-I didn't know The Andy Griffith Show theme even had lyrics.
2-I imagine the sheet music to this was a nightmare.

I'm gonna pull the "love Josh Groban" card here (ironically I also happen to thoroughly enjoy Oprah) and say that not only did I appreciate this I think the project allowed him to demonstrate a range he has not previously been able to.

His Cartman, Les Claypool, and Announcer voices were all SPOT ON.

Maybe a little bizarre, but ultimately entertaining and an incredible display of one of the most talented singers of our generation.

I know I'm a little late on this, but I am disappointed in you, James Hansen. As a fellow purveyor - no, enthusiast! - of horrifyingly awful things, the Groban bit, and the rest of the Emmy telecast by extension, should have been an orgy of amazingness for you. It was for me! Shit, it was nothing less than a three hour argument that all TV should be live, all day, all the time, ever. Bar has been set for the Oscars. Video evidence here.
