Jacques Rivette Poll Results

Hello all.

It appears that we are still having some issues with the site, which can only be traced back to Blogspot since I have not changed the template, html, or anything since the problems began. Hopefully everything will work itself out and everything will be back on track soon. I am also have issues having the "continue reading" labels appear below some of our longer posts, but, as you all know, if you click on the titles the entire articles will appear.

I think out hiatus has hurt our readership a little, as the results from our Jacques Rivette poll were much lower than I would like. If you are a new reader, thank you for coming! Please make us a regular stop on your internet reading! If you are an older regular reader, we appreciate your continued support. Please do all you can to get word back to people we have lost that Out 1 is back in full swing with some of the best full reviews you can find anywhere on the "blogosphere."

And now...onto the results!

HOW MANY JACQUES RIVETTE FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN?
0............................................12 (48 %)
1-2 ........................................ 4 (16 %)
3-4........................................ 2 (8 %)
5-6 ....................................... 3 (12 %)
7-8......................................... 3 (12%)
9-10....................................... 1 (4%)

The moral of this poll...everyone who visits the site should vote in the polls, and go see more Rivette films!

Wow. Who was the person that saw 9-10? Kudos to you, super viewer.

PS-In looking at various pics on here (Rivette, Lynch), perhaps there should be a poll for the director with the craziest hair. Add Jarmusch, and there would be quite a contest on our hands.

I will admit -- with shame! -- that I am one of those unfortunates who has not seen a Rivette film. While I could blame this on my recent thesis work -- where I spent all of my time watching and rewatching silent films from the twenties -- I realize there is no excuse for a lifetime of ignorance.

I throw myself to the film-gods in mercy and supplication.

(In all seriousness -- any suggestions for those of us who need to go watch some Rivette films?)

I just recently saw "Love on the Ground" and think it is a great introduction to Rivette's work (even though it is from the 80s) His newest work "The Duchess of Langeais" is also a good intro. And although I haven't seen it, I hear "Va Savior" is excellent

Then, of course, "Celine and Julie Go Boating" is one of the best films ever and a little easier to find. "Out 1" is beyond great but almost impossible to find. "La Belle Noiseuese: Divertimendo" rocks hard as well.

Moral of the story...almost all of it is good! Yeah Rivette!

I was in the seven to eight section. If I can get this semester to calm down I am going to do a long post on Merry-Go-Round (one of Rivette's rarest) and offer up some screen caps from it.
Hope it proves interesting...thanks for putting on the poll.
