I don't know if this will become a regular series here or not, but it seems to me (and likely everyone else who has ever made them) that short films go wildly under appreciated. This is a feature to highlight some great short films that would certainly be part of the short films canon, if there were one. (Is there? Debate in comments...)
So here is the first selection. We'll let the films speak for themselves.

I LOVE this idea.
Cool! It was a spur of the moment thing, but I really like it as well. Maybe we'll do it every Monday or something like that...get the week started with a great short.
Has everyone seen this one already?
Awesome. I haven't seen this in like three or four years. His "Sombra dolorosa" is also enjoyable, though not as good.
This is one of my favorite films of al time -- and, quite frankly, perfectly apotheosizes everything I love about Guy Maddin.
A true masterpiece.
Brand Upon the Brain is reportedly going to be released by Criterion soon. Keep your eyes open.
